Action Plan 2018-2019
The Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Movement supports a comprehensive approach to affect change both in individual attitudes and societal norms. By adopting and building on policies and programs that have been proven to work, societal norms and systems can change and play a significant role in improving health across the life span.
Our action plan reflects the state’s 2018-2019 biennial term. The plan is a working document that can be updated at any time and identifies the processes necessary for maintaining a program and its benefits over time. Local and state partners work together, every two years, to create this plan, which identifies short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals. Partners will work to achieve these goals by implementing the plan’s educational tactics and outputs.
In public health, health equity is the opportunity for everyone to reach their full health potential. In tobacco prevention and control, health equity is the opportunity for all people to live a healthy, tobacco-free life, regardless of their identity. To further reduce tobacco’s burden, it is imperative to view this action plan through a health equity lens. All activities implemented in support of the plan must incorporate efforts to reduce tobacco-related health disparities.
The Partnership for a Tobacco Free Wisconsin Steering Committee adopted the movements plan on May 11, 2018.
