Todd A. Mahr, MD, FAAP, FAAAAI, FACAAI - Coalition Chair
In my practice as a Pediatric Allergist and Immunologist with Gundersen Health System, I see a clear pattern of preventable symptoms related to family members' tobacco use. As part of my volunteerism, I lead the Partnership for Tobacco Free Wisconsin - a coalition focusing on tobacco prevention and control with a statewide lens.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of thePartnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin. The Partnership is a “big umbrella” and our task is to lead the way to further reducing tobacco use in Wisconsin. By doingthis in all corners of our great state, we improve andsavelives of peopleof all ages.If you are interested in helping us do that, we want you! There are no membership fees and you can be as involved as your time and energies allow.
Past tobacco control efforts in our state that have led to significant achievements include a smoke-free air law and tobacco tax increases that discourage new smokers. We should be proud of those accomplishments! But we cannot afford to rest. The tobacco industry continues to spend billions on the business of nicotine addiction.
There is only one way to counteract this - a unified effort that includes authentic voices from every age group, every walk of life, every community in Wisconsin. ThePartnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsinis the place for those voices. We welcome you and look forward to working together!
