What is the purpose of the Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin?
To provide the leadership necessary to reduce tobacco use in Wisconsin.

What is our vision?
By 2020 we want to have a large, active coalition that is able to anticipate changes in the tobacco control landscape, set clear priorities and work together with a wide variety of partners to inspire timely action.

How is the Partnership organized?
We have a Steering Committee that provides strategic direction and a Policy Committee that carries works toward accomplishing objectives outlines in a statewide action plan. As objectives are met and new strategies designed, work groups may be discontinued, changed or created. We designed the structure this way to maximize flexibility and responsiveness to new opportunities and challenges.  You do not need to be a member of a work group to be a member of the Partnership.

Who should be a member?
Any individual or organization that supports the Partnership's purpose and vision. If you want to save and enhance lives by reducing the burden of tobacco in Wisconsin, we want you! You don't have to be a public health or health care professional - we want members with diverse experience and perspectives.

What’s in it for you?
This is a statewide partnership that welcomes members from every profession and walk of life!  Member benefits include connections with others interested in tobacco control, action opportunities and educational updates. Membership is free and you can devote as much or as little time to coalition activity as you would like.  Most meetings will be hosted electronically to accommodate members from all corners of the state.  Become a member here Join Us.

How does this coalition relate to past tobacco control efforts in Wisconsin?
Think about some of the great advances in tobacco control in the past decade:
  • Successful passage and implementation of statewide smoke-free air law
  • Sustainability of the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program
  • Significant state tax increases

Many of the people and organizations responsible for these victories are part of the Partnership for Tobacco Free Wisconsin. In years past, the leadership for the statewide movement was provided by SmokeFree Wisconsin/Health First Wisconsin, but that organization no longer exists.  In 2015, a planning process to pick up the leadership mantel began and in December of 2016, the new Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Control Coalition was launched. It was renamed Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin in September 2017. The administrative home of Wisconsin's statewide tobacco prevention coalition is with American Lung Association.
