On December 6, the Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin held a webinar to update members and potential members on state and national tobacco control issues and our new name, website and member registration process. At least 100 people from all parts of the state participated!
All parts of the state. All walks of life. That is what our Partnership needs if we are to make meaningful strides toward a tobacco-free Wisconsin.
If you are reading this you already may be a member. If not, joining the Partnership couldn’t be easier. Just click on the Join Us tab and register. It takes about two minutes. Within a couple of business days you will receive an invitation to create a password for the Members section of the site. This is where we will be offering resources for member use. For example, the slide deck and webinar recording from yesterday are archived in the Members section, along with a one pager that you may use and share.
We will be hosting another webinar in the first half of 2018 and want to build it around an agenda suggested by our members. Please get in touch with Darcie Warren, the new Partnership Coordinator, to share your ideas and questions. Darcie.firstname.lastname@example.org. In the meantime, sign up for automatic notifications of new blog entries by clicking the RSS Feed icon. When a new member resource becomes available or a call to action occurs it will be posted in the Latest News section.
With these new developments and your help, we restate Wisconsin’s motto, “Forward!” with confidence, and move a strong Partnership into 2018!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new website of the Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin. The Partnership is a “big umbrella” and our task is to lead the way to further reducing tobacco use in Wisconsin. By doing this in all corners of our great state, we improve and save lives of people of all ages. If you are interested in helping us do that, we want you! There are no membership fees and you can be as involved as your time and energies allow.
Past tobacco control efforts in our state that have led to significant achievements - a smoke-free air law, tobacco tax increases that discourage new smokers. We should be proud of those accomplishments! But we cannot afford to rest. The tobacco industry continues to spend billions on the business of nicotine addiction.
There is only one way to counteract this - a unified effort that includes authentic voices from every age group, every walk of life, every community in Wisconsin. The Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Wisconsin is the place for those voices.
We welcome you and look forward to working together!
